Banana crisps production in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand

The buyer and the buying decision

Snack buyers and retailers. The offer to test is: Produce banana crisps with a stated ingredient and flavour.

Choose banana crisps around an identified banana type and a clear sweet or savoury expectation, agreeing the eating occasion before testing additional flavours or package styles.

Separate interest from an accepted order

Trial a suitable banana type and record fresh-to-packed yield.

The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.

Collect evidence specific to this offer

Record raw banana identity and condition, preparation losses, packed yield, flavour version and customer expectation, linking repeat purchase feedback to the exact product tried during the pilot.

Question to resolveEvidence to retain
What exactly will the buyer accept?Have customers open ordinary trial packs and assess texture, flavour and broken pieces, checking that the actual product matches the banana snack described on the package.
What is included in the first trial?Choose banana crisps around an identified banana type and a clear sweet or savoury expectation, agreeing the eating occasion before testing additional flavours or package styles.
How will a prospect see the offer?Ask buyers whether plain or seasoned product has repeat demand before increasing stock.
What must happen before repeating the trial?Do not hide damaged raw fruit or overstate nutrition benefits.

Decide whether to continue

Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. An unclear description disappoints customers who expect sweetness but receive a savoury product, so attractive banana imagery cannot replace a precise explanation of the snack actually supplied.

If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.

Turn the example into a buyer test

Fictional plain plantain/green-banana crisps: two hundred 50 g packs, ten kg accepted finished product, from forty-five kg whole approved green cooking bananas. Specify actual cultivar and peeled product; dessert bananas and plantains are not silent substitutes. Fresh-to-crisp recovery and oil uptake are fictional and need measurement. No historical sulphite/antioxidant/fumigant treatment is adopted; actual recipe/process require qualified approval.

Buyer discussionEvidence to retain
Specification to confirmSupplier/processor agree peeled cooking-banana product rather than unspecified banana mix.
Output to inspectCrisp texture today is not evidence of a six-month shelf life.
Failure that can defeat acceptanceSlices brown differently

Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.

What a failed test should change

Compare cultivar/ripeness and approved process record. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
