Community event promotion in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
Community groups and local event organizers. The offer to test is: Promote a lawful community event with organizer-approved details.
Promote one community event using organizer-approved facts, defining audience, venue permissions, attendance process, accessibility information, announcement channels, and a single source for schedule changes afterward.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Create a small promotion pack for one confirmed event.
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Record approved event details, channel owners, announcement versions, audience questions, registration-path problems, schedule changes, correction distribution, and attendance feedback the organizer can connect to specific channels.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Ask a prospective attendee to find the date, location, entry conditions, contact person, and cancellation update channel without needing to ask the promotion team for clarification. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Promote one community event using organizer-approved facts, defining audience, venue permissions, attendance process, accessibility information, announcement channels, and a single source for schedule changes afterward. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Contact organizers through public business channels with a sample schedule. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | All published event details match the organizer-approved information. |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. Promotion undermines attendance when different posters display different start times or an organizer changes the venue without a coordinated correction reaching people who saw earlier announcements.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional event-promotion order COM-34 prepares a community book exchange announcement, four reminder posts and one A4 notice for a two-hour Saturday event at a library-approved venue. Sample text: 'Bring up to three books you are willing to exchange; [date], [time], [venue]. Contact [organiser] for access information. Participation rules at [approved link].' The organiser confirms the rules and venue authority. Ticketing, cash collection, crowd control, permit advice and a promise of attendance are excluded.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | Do not publish a library logo or venue name as sponsorship without permission. |
| Output to inspect | If venue/date changes, scheduled reminders and printed distribution owners receive the same approved correction. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Wrong date reaches a group |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Check scheduled assets and distribution list.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
