Cupboard door replacement in Kenya: Operations and Quality Checks
Deliver the agreed result consistently
Measure each opening and hinge arrangement, agreeing finish matching before making replacement cupboard doors for boxes that may no longer be square or dimensionally consistent.
The operating sequence for this offer is:
- Measure doors, carcasses and hinge positions, then check that retained cabinets can safely support the proposed replacement fronts.
- Approve material, finish and hardware compatibility, produce the doors and obtain permission before changing hinge or carcass details.
- Inspect alignment and full opening movement with the owner, record colour variation and retain the replacement specification for aftercare.
Put acceptance into the job record
Doors align and operate properly, with accepted finish variation.
Operate all replaced doors with the customer, checking adjoining fronts and drawer clearances while documenting retained cabinet defects that require a separate repair or adjustment.
Inspect at the point where a correction is still possible, then again at handover. Record rejected or incomplete output separately from accepted output. A completed task is not automatically an accepted task, and an invoice does not establish that the customer received the right result.
Measure real capacity
Time preparation, the main operation, transport, cleaning, approvals and correction as applicable. The slowest stage determines how much you can promise. Where two orders need the same person, space or equipment at the same time, resolve the conflict before confirming both deadlines. An additional enquiry should not erase a commitment already made.
| Operating checkpoint | Evidence for this business |
|---|---|
| Before starting | Measure each opening and hinge arrangement, agreeing finish matching before making replacement cupboard doors for boxes that may no longer be square or dimensionally consistent. |
| During delivery | Approve material, finish and hardware compatibility, produce the doors and obtain permission before changing hinge or carcass details. |
| At acceptance | Operate all replaced doors with the customer, checking adjoining fronts and drawer clearances while documenting retained cabinet defects that require a separate repair or adjustment. |
| At the pilot review | Record opening identifiers, individual dimensions, hardware choices and final adjustments, retaining the cutting list so later replacement requests do not depend on memory or assumptions. |
Keep a correction and escalation rule
When inputs, access, specifications or customer instructions change, pause the affected work and confirm the effect on time and cost. Do not quietly lower the acceptance standard to avoid a delayed delivery. Keep rework caused by your error distinct from a customer-requested change of scope and agree the remedy clearly.
A maker assumes all openings match and produces doors that cannot close correctly, creating expensive remaking because existing cabinet differences were omitted from the survey.
Retain the minimum records needed to investigate a complaint without disclosing unrelated personal information. Use measured delivery and actual acceptance as the basis for expanding capacity, rather than the maximum theoretical output of a tool or production line.
Operating control points for this exact offer
| Sequence | Work method | Release checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Label four doors/openings D01–D04 and photograph each with the door open and closed. Record opening width at top/middle/bottom, height at both sides, existing front size/thickness, hinge side, overlay/inset arrangement, hinge locations and handle centres. | Do not copy D01 dimensions into the other rows. Out-of-square opening or inconsistent gaps is visible on the survey sheet before final front sizes are approved. |
| 2 | Inspect carcass sides, hinge mounting locations, nearby shelves and existing hardware while the fronts are supported. Record hinge/plate model where identifiable and every part proposed for reuse. | Swollen/crumbling board, loose mounting points or an unidentified incompatible hinge system holds that opening for a separate repair/design decision. |
| 3 | Maker issues the four-row cut/drilling list with finished width/height/thickness, edge treatment, decorative direction, exact hinge/plate arrangement and handle position. Owner approves the finish sample and reference-gap drawing. | The actual selected hinge manufacturer supports the door material/thickness/weight/application and drilling plan. No universal cup size, screw length, hinge number or gap is inferred from these nominal dimensions. |
| 4 | Prepare D01 first, checking finished panel dimensions and all edged faces before manufacturer-directed drilling. Competent fitter supports and attaches it with the exact compatible system, then adjusts using that model instructions. | D01 clears adjacent fronts/shelves and opens/closes through intended travel without rubbing or forced hinge seating. Failed first fit stops production/drilling of D02–D04 for correction. |
| 5 | Make/fit remaining fronts to their own approved rows; inspect face direction, edges, handle alignment and hinge security and cycle every front normally with owner present. Give old/reused-part inventory and unresolved exclusions. | All four match the approved drawing/sample and complete normal travel without collision, sag or loose fixings. Recheck adjacent doors after adjustments; damage/unsupported carcass repair is not hidden behind new fronts. |
Do not substitute a tick for an observation: record the count, measurement, approved sample or evidence reference used at each checkpoint. Mark unresolved work as held and identify who can approve the recheck.
Diagnose a failure before repeating it
| Observed symptom to investigate | Check the cause | Proposed response |
|---|---|---|
| One door rubs | Compare measured opening and hinge compatibility. | Correct through maker/fitter. |
| Hinge pulls from carcass | Inspect supporting board condition. | Stop use and price proper repair. |
| Décor direction differs | Compare approved sample/drawing. | Correct wrong production orientation. |
These are diagnostic prompts, not proof of the cause in a real incident. Separate suspect output, record any correction and repeat the relevant acceptance check. Link rejected units, rework time, replacement materials, customer credits and collection delays to the actual job result.
