Diaspora property photo updates in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
Owners living away from their property. The offer to test is: Send factual property photo updates to an owner with verified authority.
Agree the owner’s requested photo viewpoints, access authority and reporting purpose, making clear that visual updates do not establish title, construction compliance or technical quality.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Complete one consented visit and agree the photographed areas in advance.
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Keep original dated images, viewpoint notes, access restrictions and owner follow-up questions, noting where an issue requires a qualified inspector rather than another photograph for clarification.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Compare the delivered photographs with the agreed shot plan and previous visit, checking that captions distinguish directly observed changes from explanations supplied by people on site. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Agree the owner’s requested photo viewpoints, access authority and reporting purpose, making clear that visual updates do not establish title, construction compliance or technical quality. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Build referrals through authorized property operators and transparent access procedures. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | The owner receives an attributable record without covertly photographing occupants. |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A large gallery can create false reassurance when it excludes requested areas, repeats flattering angles or presents a contractor’s statement as the photographer’s independently verified conclusion.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional remote-owner update: make one authorized monthly visit to a vacant two-bedroom property and deliver 12 original photographs from agreed repeat viewpoints plus a factual change log. The owner abroad receives a dated contact sheet showing approach, rooms and selected existing issues. This is visual documentation, excluding surveillance of occupants, title verification, construction-progress certification, structural inspection, rental valuation and assurance that photographs reveal every hidden defect.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | The photographic mandate does not rely on an overseas instruction alone to override local access rights. |
| Output to inspect | The report states what was not accessed and does not certify the property secure or defect-free. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Photo appears identical to last month |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Check original file date and viewpoint record.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
