Flower delivery service in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand

The buyer and the buying decision

Florists and gift buyers. The offer to test is: Deliver flowers with packaging and timing suited to the arrangement.

Limit the initial offer to arrangements the florist can secure upright, with explicit plans for reception desks, gated homes, surprise timing, and unavailable recipients.

Separate interest from an accepted order

Trial a nearby route with a florist-approved arrangement.

The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.

Collect evidence specific to this offer

Capture arrangement dimensions, florist packing instructions, access delays, recipient availability, handover condition, and whether protective supports can be reused without compromising presentation next time.

Question to resolveEvidence to retain
What exactly will the buyer accept?Ask the florist to compare the arrangement before departure and at receipt, checking stem support, water containment, wrapping marks, and presentation from several angles.
What is included in the first trial?Limit the initial offer to arrangements the florist can secure upright, with explicit plans for reception desks, gated homes, surprise timing, and unavailable recipients.
How will a prospect see the offer?Build a referral arrangement with florists after a handled sample test.
What must happen before repeating the trial?Arrangement arrives intact and the delivery window is met.

Decide whether to continue

Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A surprise delivery loses its value when the driver repeatedly calls the recipient during an event or leaves flowers where heat damages the arrangement.

If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.

Turn the example into a buyer test

Fictional assignment FLR-04: a florist orders delivery of eight wrapped bouquets, four to a hotel reception and four to individual recipients, during a two-hour agreed window. Every bouquet has an opaque reference tag matching a card envelope; the runner must not read private messages. The purchased service is careful upright transport with a florist-approved presentation photo at handover. Arranging flowers, guaranteeing recipient availability, leaving bouquets in direct sun and selling delivery as a surprise with no contact plan are excluded. The florist determines whether stems travel in water and supplies suitable leak-resistant packaging.

Buyer discussionEvidence to retain
Specification to confirmRead back references rather than private messages and count eight bouquets before collection.
Output to inspectEight references finish with delivered or returned status, and the florist receives immediate notice of damaged wrapping.
Failure that can defeat acceptancePetals bruised at arrival

Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.

What a failed test should change

Compare loading support and bouquet separation with the collection condition.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
