KENYA · GUIDE 0040 · EDITION 4.2
Ginger growing in Kenya
Grow ginger sold as fresh rhizomes with transparent grading.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE · ILLUSTRATIVE
Fictional ginger sale: a spice-grinding kitchen orders 20 kg of sound mature edible ginger rhizomes, delivered in four 5 kg net crates with loose soil removed under an agreed handling basis. The cook approves pungency, fibre and peeling loss from a 1 kg sample. Young tender ginger is a different grade, not an automatic substitute. Provide a source-bed card and peel-loss worksheet; this offer excludes ginger paste, drying and medicinal products.
Who is the first customer?
