KENYA · GUIDE 0073 · EDITION 4.2
Lucerne growing in Kenya
Grow lucerne as a forage product for a defined livestock buyer.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE · ILLUSTRATIVE
Fictional harvest order from an already established, correctly identified lucerne plot: twenty five-net-kilogram fresh-forage bundles, one hundred kilograms accepted. The sample weighs 130 kilograms harvested, separates thirty kilograms of rejects/trim and supplies one hundred; this is not a field yield or normal recovery rate. A competent adviser must approve the buyer's animal-use plan, including lucerne feed risks; the grower does not prescribe feeding rates or bloat treatments.
Who is the first customer?
Dairy and other livestock keepers familiar with lucerne.
