Men shirt retail in Kenya: Records and Planning Worksheets
Keep evidence that answers a real operating question
For men shirt retail, the record should connect the promised output, its cost and the buyer's acceptance. Begin with:
Record actual collar and sleeve measurements, cut description, fabric information, fitting objections, button defects, and paid demand for specific combinations when planning replacement stock.
An order and acceptance record
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Output and exclusions | Organise men's shirts by collar, chest, sleeve, and cut, making the intended tucked or untucked style clear so buyers can select a practical fit. |
| Sale unit | shirt |
| Acceptance check | Have customers assess neck closure and arm movement in a sample, checking sleeve reach, button security, pocket alignment, and whether the shirt remains comfortable when seated. |
| Missed-cost check | Include pressing, missing buttons, size-chart checking, display wear, and stock held in unusual collar-to-sleeve combinations rather than treating labelled sizes as interchangeable products. |
| Failure to investigate | A shirt can fit across the chest but fail the purchase when closing the collar feels restrictive or sleeves pull during ordinary desk work and driving. |
Add the date, private customer reference, agreed price, advance, balance, promised handover and actual acceptance. Record a change before carrying it out. An unresolved complaint needs its own action and follow-up date rather than being overwritten by the next order.
A supplier and cost record
For each required input, record the specification, quantity, supplier identity, quote date, delivered cost, payment terms and reason for selection. Match the record to the receipt and inspect what arrived. Keep one-time setup, recurring inputs and refundable deposits in separate categories so that the same cash movement is not counted twice.
A weekly review
Compare accepted output with started output; reconcile money collected with outstanding balances; investigate rework and returns. Review whether measured capacity can meet the next commitment. A positive surplus estimate does not remove a shortage of cash caused by late collection.
Use sources within their stated scope
- KenInvest — eProcedures licensing and county directory — Official catalogue of county business procedures and sector licensing categories. A category listing is not a complete approval checklist or fee quotation. Reference recorded 2026-10-26.
- KEBS — Standardization Mark — Product certification for locally manufactured goods; ask KEBS about the exact product standard and production model. Not a statement that each retailer needs its own manufacturing permit. Reference recorded 2026-10-26.
- DOSHS — Registration and Renewal of Workplaces — Workplace registration process and county DOSHS contact route; assess applicability to actual premises and work. Reference recorded 2026-10-26.
These references route sector and activity questions. They do not independently establish local customer demand, supplier stock, a complete budget or business profitability. A reference date records the earlier check; it is not a claim that every linked requirement was reverified today.
The complete downloadable guide includes editable planning worksheets. Save backups privately when they contain personal, customer or supplier information. These planning forms do not replace required statutory records or professional advice for a regulated task.
Evidence register for this particular offer
- About Product Size Chart and Measurement — UNIQLO Malaysia - Finished-garment measurements differ from body measurements and label sizes; retailer methods below are explicitly defined for the job, not universal brand sizing. Recorded 2026-10-26.
- Care symbols — GINETEX - Interpret actual care instructions and treatment limits; no permission to invent a missing label or copy protected symbols for commercial labelling. Recorded 2026-10-26.
- Seam appearance — AMANN - Puckering, needle damage and thread-balance diagnostics; visual inspection is not laboratory strength certification. Recorded 2026-10-26.
These recorded references support only their stated scope. They do not establish current supplier stock, actual local demand, operator competence or complete commercial feasibility. Preserve source dates and record new checks separately.
Match the evidence to a decision
| Decision question | Business-specific record to retain |
|---|---|
| Was the input fit for use? | Agree defect returns and whether SS01 is representative, not assume all brands fit alike. |
| Was the work acceptable? | Register keeps 20 sale shirts separate from retained sample; returns are rechecked for wear/damage before relisting. |
| What remains unresolved? | No physical stock inspection, fitting, wash trial or customer transaction is claimed. Actual materials, maker authority and supplier terms require verification. |
The operating pack provides an itemised quote tool, supplier request, sales draft, job card, quality response sheet, evidence gaps, operations desk and cashflow/launch-review workbook. Keep a separate private backup per actual job and per scenario. Test restoring it before closing the original. Exported files may contain customer or supplier information; do not publish completed private records as SEO content.
