Mosquito net retail in Kenya: Operations and Quality Checks
Deliver the agreed result consistently
Sell mosquito nets around measured bed and hanging arrangements, distinguishing product dimensions from packaging labels and retaining evidence for any manufacturer-stated treatment description.
The operating sequence for this offer is:
- Verify dimensions and product claims. Compare the physical sample with supplier dimensions and use instructions. Record any unsupported claim rather than repeating it in advertising.
- inspect packaging. Write the selected dimensions or compatibility on the customer order. Ask for confirmation before ordering a non-returnable item.
- explain hanging. Check closures, fixings, set contents or moving parts as applicable. Keep a dated record of defects found before dispatch.
- retain supplier details. Record dispatch condition and packing, then explain the actual warranty and care information supplied with that specific product.
Put acceptance into the job record
The net fits without gaps caused by incorrect sizing and claimed treatment is supported by its labelling.
Have a customer check a sample layout against the bed and available suspension points, assessing coverage, entry access, and whether the intended hanging kit is complete.
Inspect at the point where a correction is still possible, then again at handover. Record rejected or incomplete output separately from accepted output. A completed task is not automatically an accepted task, and an invoice does not establish that the customer received the right result.
Measure real capacity
Time preparation, the main operation, transport, cleaning, approvals and correction as applicable. The slowest stage determines how much you can promise. Where two orders need the same person, space or equipment at the same time, resolve the conflict before confirming both deadlines. An additional enquiry should not erase a commitment already made.
| Operating checkpoint | Evidence for this business |
|---|---|
| Before starting | Sell mosquito nets around measured bed and hanging arrangements, distinguishing product dimensions from packaging labels and retaining evidence for any manufacturer-stated treatment description. |
| During delivery | inspect packaging. Write the selected dimensions or compatibility on the customer order. Ask for confirmation before ordering a non-returnable item. |
| At acceptance | Have a customer check a sample layout against the bed and available suspension points, assessing coverage, entry access, and whether the intended hanging kit is complete. |
| At the pilot review | Record bed dimensions, ceiling or support constraints, net model, included fittings, verified label claims, and buyer feedback about gaps or difficult access after hanging. |
Keep a correction and escalation rule
When inputs, access, specifications or customer instructions change, pause the affected work and confirm the effect on time and cost. Do not quietly lower the acceptance standard to avoid a delayed delivery. Keep rework caused by your error distinct from a customer-requested change of scope and agree the remedy clearly.
The sale fails its practical purpose when a net fits the mattress footprint but cannot enclose the sleeping space because the hanging points are unsuitable.
Retain the minimum records needed to investigate a complaint without disclosing unrelated personal information. Use measured delivery and actual acceptance as the basis for expanding capacity, rather than the maximum theoretical output of a tool or production line.
Operating control points for this exact offer
| Sequence | Work method | Release checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Record mattress dimensions, hanging points and room clearance. | Chosen net can enclose the intended bed. |
| 2 | Obtain model, size, original label and any treatment evidence. | No genericWHO-approved claim is added. |
| 3 | Check packaging and, where permitted, a sample for holes, seams and hanging loops. | No visibly damaged net is sold. |
| 4 | Give the actual hanging, care and treatment instructions without inventing re-treatment chemistry. | Customer receives supported directions. |
| 5 | Check ten correct-size packs and record defects. | Wrong-size swaps are not hidden in the batch. |
Do not substitute a tick for an observation: record the count, measurement, approved sample or evidence reference used at each checkpoint. Mark unresolved work as held and identify who can approve the recheck.
Diagnose a failure before repeating it
| Observed symptom to investigate | Check the cause | Proposed response |
|---|---|---|
| Hole or seam opening | Inspect net material, edges and hanging points under good light against original pack condition. | Remove damaged unit from accepted count and seek replacement; do not promise intact protection after an undisclosed patch. |
| Net size wrong | Compare actual bed dimensions and specified hanging arrangement with exact variant dimensions. | Select documented suitable size and obtain approval before opening/installation; model number alone does not establish every variant fit. |
| Treatment claim unverified | Check original producer label and exact model treatment documentation, not decorative appearance or generic net guidance. | Remove insecticide-treated claim until verified; do not apply home chemical treatment or promise guaranteed protection. |
These are diagnostic prompts, not proof of the cause in a real incident. Separate suspect output, record any correction and repeat the relevant acceptance check. Link rejected units, rework time, replacement materials, customer credits and collection delays to the actual job result.
