Original revision workbook publishing in Kenya: Operations and Quality Checks
Deliver the agreed result consistently
Publish an original revision workbook for a defined syllabus area and learner level, agreeing authorship, explanations, worked examples, answer review, and permissions for any external material.
The operating sequence for this offer is:
- Define the workbook's exact topic, level and learning outcomes before writing an original contents plan and a sample chapter.
- Have a competent subject reviewer check questions and answers, then test instructions and page layout with suitable users under appropriate consent.
- Correct recorded errors and verify the final answer key, page sequence and usage rights before approving a print or digital release.
Put acceptance into the job record
Every answer is checked and reproduced material is licensed; cover claims match the contents.
Ask subject reviewers and trial learners to check sample questions, explanations, answer accuracy, difficulty progression, and whether instructions allow independent use without constant tutor intervention.
Inspect at the point where a correction is still possible, then again at handover. Record rejected or incomplete output separately from accepted output. A completed task is not automatically an accepted task, and an invoice does not establish that the customer received the right result.
Measure real capacity
Time preparation, the main operation, transport, cleaning, approvals and correction as applicable. The slowest stage determines how much you can promise. Where two orders need the same person, space or equipment at the same time, resolve the conflict before confirming both deadlines. An additional enquiry should not erase a commitment already made.
| Operating checkpoint | Evidence for this business |
|---|---|
| Before starting | Publish an original revision workbook for a defined syllabus area and learner level, agreeing authorship, explanations, worked examples, answer review, and permissions for any external material. |
| During delivery | Have a competent subject reviewer check questions and answers, then test instructions and page layout with suitable users under appropriate consent. |
| At acceptance | Ask subject reviewers and trial learners to check sample questions, explanations, answer accuracy, difficulty progression, and whether instructions allow independent use without constant tutor intervention. |
| At the pilot review | Keep syllabus mappings, author drafts, reviewer corrections, learner misunderstandings, answer checks, print-proof issues, and edition changes so future revisions respond to observed learning problems rather than guesswork. |
Keep a correction and escalation rule
When inputs, access, specifications or customer instructions change, pause the affected work and confirm the effect on time and cost. Do not quietly lower the acceptance standard to avoid a delayed delivery. Keep rework caused by your error distinct from a customer-requested change of scope and agree the remedy clearly.
A workbook damages learning when incorrect answers reward the wrong method or difficult jumps leave learners unable to identify what earlier knowledge they need to revisit.
Retain the minimum records needed to investigate a complaint without disclosing unrelated personal information. Use measured delivery and actual acceptance as the basis for expanding capacity, rather than the maximum theoretical output of a tool or production line.
Operating control points for this exact offer
| Sequence | Work method | Release checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Assign each of 12 pages a function and original question IDs. | Activities and answers reconcile by ID. |
| 2 | Create drawings/questions independently and obtain competent subject review. | Check quantities, language and answers separately. |
| 3 | Use generous writing space and contrast; preserve editable source. | No answer visible through confusing page placement. |
| 4 | Print one complete set at actual size and inspect page order/margins. | Do not order 20 before approved proof. |
| 5 | Confirm artwork/font rights and applicable publication/ISBN obligations with KNLS. | ISBN is not curriculum approval or copyright certification. |
Do not substitute a tick for an observation: record the count, measurement, approved sample or evidence reference used at each checkpoint. Mark unresolved work as held and identify who can approve the recheck.
Diagnose a failure before repeating it
| Observed symptom to investigate | Check the cause | Proposed response |
|---|---|---|
| Answer key mismatch | Match question IDs and recompute. | Correct both source and proof. |
| Writing space too small | Try actual-size page. | Reduce question density. |
| Copies out of order | Compare page map. | Hold batch and rebind/reprint affected copies. |
These are diagnostic prompts, not proof of the cause in a real incident. Separate suspect output, record any correction and repeat the relevant acceptance check. Link rejected units, rework time, replacement materials, customer credits and collection delays to the actual job result.
