Phone photography workshops in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
small business owners The offer to test is: Phone photography workshop producing useful product images
Teach phone photography around one practical subject and available devices, showing learners how position, light, background, and focus choices change the image before introducing editing applications.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Ask learners to photograph one actual simple product
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Record device differences, focus errors, lighting changes attempted, learner explanations, editing questions, and later photographs so future sessions teach transferable choices rather than dependence on one particular phone model.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Ask learners to photograph the same subject independently after the demonstration and explain their chosen adjustments, comparing results for purposeful improvement rather than judging expensive phone features. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Teach phone photography around one practical subject and available devices, showing learners how position, light, background, and focus choices change the image before introducing editing applications. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Offer small sellers a class using real product samples, before-and-after images from the taught setup and a clear phone-equipment list. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | Learners deliver clear well-lit images with accurate colour |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A class disappoints when the instructor produces excellent images using settings learners cannot find on their own phones, leaving them unable to repeat the technique after returning home.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional phone-photography class: eight adults photograph one owned unbranded mug in window light, producing front, detail and overhead images each—24finished practice images. No paid software is required unless disclosed.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | Learners keep control of their own devices and files. |
| Output to inspect | Twenty-four outputs remain traceable to learners and are not published without permission. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Mug looks yellow |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Compare light sources and white balance.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
