Property signage coordination in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
Owners and licensed agents needing directional or vacancy signage. The offer to test is: Coordinate property signs with verified wording and permitted installation locations.
Define each sign’s purpose, location, wording and installation authority, checking that property directions and parking instructions reflect decisions actually approved by the responsible manager.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Produce a small proof and check installation permission before ordering.
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Log site photographs, wording approvals, sample readability feedback, installation changes and supplier defects, retaining dimensions and artwork files for accurate replacement when the property changes.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | View a sample sign from the intended approach and ask an unfamiliar visitor to follow it, checking readability, directional clarity and consistency with adjacent signs. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Define each sign’s purpose, location, wording and installation authority, checking that property directions and parking instructions reflect decisions actually approved by the responsible manager. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Partner with authorized property operators and competent sign makers. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | The sign matches approval and does not misstate ownership, availability or official status. |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A sign can be beautifully printed yet fail when arrows point from the wrong viewing direction, mounting hides key information or messages conflict with existing property rules.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional signage order: coordinate eight apartment wayfinding signs—six 300 × 100 mm unit labels and two 300 × 200 mm directional panels—using a buyer-approved rigid printed substrate and competent installation. Supply an artwork schedule, physical sample, placement map and acceptance count. These are ordinary wayfinding signs, excluding fire/escape signage, road traffic signs, structural supports, electrical illumination and claims of accessibility compliance. The operator supplies correct unit identifiers and mounting permissions.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | All eight locations are approved and do not cover existing required signage or access controls. |
| Output to inspect | The handover includes eight installed sign IDs, defects and care/replacement information. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Arrow points toward the wrong corridor |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Compare installed orientation with the context mock-up.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
