Resin coaster making in Kenya: Equipment and Supplies
Buy for the acceptance standard
The procurement decision starts with the result you must deliver: Fully finished stable surface without tackiness
Compare every sample on a flat table, inspecting edges, surface defects, rocking, and underside protection, then verify that decorative inclusions remain enclosed in the finished construction.
A tool or material is suitable only when it can support this specification at the pilot scale. Use the following shortlist as a starting point, not a compulsory shopping package:
- appropriate resin system
- PPE
- ventilated workspace
Write comparable requests for quotations
| Resource | Questions for the supplier |
|---|---|
| appropriate resin system | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
| PPE | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
| ventilated workspace | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
Ask for the exact unit or pack size, rather than accepting a price without a quantity. Where equipment is involved, check maintenance needs, safe operation, available support and whether you can obtain replacement consumables. Inspect a sample or demonstration where practical. A photograph and a low asking price do not prove suitability or available stock.
Connect procurement to the operating sequence
- Select a suitable resin system and original design, reviewing supplier safety information and required workspace controls before beginning sample work.
- Use competent material handling and the supplier's process instructions, keeping batch identity and observed defects recorded without improvising chemical formulations.
- Inspect cured finish and stability, reject tacky or defective pieces, and state actual care and heat-use limitations.
At each step, identify the input whose absence would stop delivery. Arrange that input before accepting a deadline. Compare buying with suitable hire or a competent subcontractor, while keeping the responsibility for inspection and customer handover explicit.
Inspect before release to use
Retain the quote and check the delivered specification, quantity, condition and identifying details. Keep unsuitable items separate while you resolve the discrepancy. Record supplier identity and payment reference privately; do not post customer or supplier personal data in a public planning sheet.
Include mould wear, material mixing losses, bubbles, curing space, finishing, safe process controls, and rejected pieces when pricing visually matched coaster sets for retail buyers.
Limit the first purchase to the agreed scope: Design coaster sets around repeat dimensions, level contact surfaces, and a documented finish, checking product suitability with competent advice before making heat or food related claims. Expand the resource list only when actual orders and measured capacity justify it.
Exact procurement specifications for this offer
| Item | Specification to quote | Acceptance evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Documented casting system | Provisional supply sufficient for 400 ml mixed output, translated into the product’s actual pack quantities and density. | Obtain SDS, technical sheet, intended-use limits and local batch traceability; no universal volume-to-weight conversion. |
| Moulds and finishing components | Eight 100 × 100 × 4 mm cavities or a smaller mould reused after verified cure, plus thirty-two compatible underside pads if used. | Inspect mould flatness and surface damage; confirm pads adhere to the fully cured product without creating instability. |
| Process consumables | Compatible measurement vessels, stir tools, protective gloves and two set boxes. | Select equipment and protection from the exact product assessment rather than assuming every disposable cup or glove is suitable. |
A usable quotation states the exact variant, comparison unit, minimum order, delivered quantity, tax, delivery charge, payment dates, expiry and exclusions. Obtain written clarification of substitutions; compare only equivalent scopes. Match the delivered item against the same check before releasing it to use.
Supplier evidence and limits
- Premium Epoxy Resin & Hardener AB Glue 1Kg Pack: KSh 1,500.00 per one stated 1 kg two-component pack; Retailer describes total 1 kg pack with 500 g component A and 500 g component B; manufacturer identity/SDS not established. Sayari Crafts Kenya, recorded 2026-10-26. Observed retail asking price only; product text also calls it 1-Liter, so confirm actual supplied mass and do not convert to millilitres without documentation. Tax and order-specific delivery unclear. No equivalence to ArtResin, coaster suitability, safe process, stock or performance is validated.
Any listing above is an earlier observation, not a fresh quotation or confirmed stock. Reconfirm suitability and landed cost. The supplier comparison in the operating pack separates purchase quantity from usable requirement when a minimum order creates surplus.
