Tile repair service in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
Landlords and facilities supervisors handling minor defects. The offer to test is: Replace isolated damaged tiles while identifying visible underlying defects.
Identify the damaged tile and likely underlying cause before quoting, checking whether matching spares exist and separating cosmetic replacement from wider movement or moisture repair.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Inspect one repair and confirm whether matching tiles exist.
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Record damage cause observations, spare-tile availability, removal results and customer colour approval, then improve screening for repairs where a discreet local replacement is unrealistic.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Approve the closest available replacement with the owner, then inspect surrounding tiles and joints after the agreed repair, documenting any visible mismatch or unresolved cause. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Identify the damaged tile and likely underlying cause before quoting, checking whether matching spares exist and separating cosmetic replacement from wider movement or moisture repair. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Offer property managers an inspection-led repair list rather than instant remote prices. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | Replacement is safely fitted and any unavoidable colour mismatch is accepted in advance. |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. The repairer cracks neighbouring tiles while removing one damaged piece, expanding the job because the original quote ignored removal difficulty and availability of matching replacements.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional sample order: Replace three damaged 300 × 300 mm floor tiles in one accessible room, using owner-approved matching stock and a competent tiler. The visible replacement area is 0.27 square metres, but assessment, careful removal and curing still require a minimum project visit. Exclude structural cracking, leaking wet-room systems and uncertain old adhesive that needs specialist assessment.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | Do not assume every cracked tile is an isolated cosmetic failure. |
| Output to inspect | Record three repaired positions, remaining cause concerns and spare stock. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Replacement is a different colour |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Compare batch and dry sample approval under the same light.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
