Volleyball skills coaching in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
recreational volleyball groups The offer to test is: Beginner volleyball serving and passing sessions
Build an introductory session around controlled passing and serving, checking court permission, secure net supports and participant ability before planning drills that require coordinated movement or exchanges between people with little previous volleyball experience together.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Pilot a basic passing clinic with a safely set net
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Keep participant difficulties, net setup observations, waiting time and drill changes, recording which activities produced controlled practice so the next session adds complexity according to demonstrated ability rather than the coach’s preferred competitive training routine.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Ask each player to demonstrate the basic task in a controlled exchange, observing hand discomfort, spacing and ball retrieval so the instructor can simplify the drill before adding more players or increasing its movement demands. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Build an introductory session around controlled passing and serving, checking court permission, secure net supports and participant ability before planning drills that require coordinated movement or exchanges between people with little previous volleyball experience together. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Offer workplace recreation teams a passing clinic supported by a court-safety checklist and a simple skill-practice plan. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | Net security and controlled ball practice |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A volleyball session becomes frustrating when hard exchanges overwhelm beginners, poorly organised retrieval interrupts every drill or net installation problems consume the court booking that customers expected to spend practising their first passing and serving skills.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional adult volleyball pilot: eight beginners in a60-minute passing/serving clinic on a permitted court. A competent coach approves net/support safety and task choices; no spiking, diving or competitive ranking is included in the offer.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | No improvised unstable post. |
| Output to inspect | No skill guarantee from attendance alone. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Net support moves |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Stop balls and inspect facility setup through competent responsible staff.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
