Epoxy floor coating in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
Workshops and commercial premises with suitable floors. The offer to test is: Install a specified epoxy floor coating through competent applicators.
Assess the proposed coating system and floor suitability through competent guidance, clarifying preparation, shutdown and intended traffic before choosing an epoxy appearance or purchase quantity.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Obtain a substrate assessment and quote one bounded area.
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Record floor condition, system reference, preparation decisions and reopening communication, then use the pilot to improve readiness checks before coating a larger occupied commercial floor.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Approve a trial area and inspect the finished coating under the agreed system guidance, documenting imperfections and reopening instructions without inventing universal durability claims. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Assess the proposed coating system and floor suitability through competent guidance, clarifying preparation, shutdown and intended traffic before choosing an epoxy appearance or purchase quantity. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Approach workshop managers with a site-assessment and downtime plan. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | Finish and return-to-service conditions match the approved product system. |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. The client resumes heavy use before the instructed reopening condition, damaging the finish because production scheduling and coating requirements were never reconciled before work began.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional sample order: A specialist-applied epoxy coating project on ten square metres of existing concrete in a small dry workshop, conditional on substrate tests and a complete local system specification. Define colour, finish, traffic and chemical exposure before quoting. Exclude rising damp, structural repair, arbitrary resin mixing, public access during work and guaranteed chemical resistance without system-specific evidence.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | A two-part product name alone is not a complete flooring specification. |
| Output to inspect | Different foot/light/full-service release times are obtained from the actual system and conditions. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Coating develops bubbles |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Specialist reviews substrate, contamination, conditions and application record.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
