Local repair booking directory in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
households seeking repairers The offer to test is: A booking directory describing verified repairer scope
List repair providers by verified service scope, coverage, booking process, and diagnostic boundaries, explaining who quotes, collects payment, authorizes parts, and handles complaints about completed repair work.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Coordinate a few jobs and review quotation clarity
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Keep provider scope, enquiry details, appointment outcomes, quotation changes, complaint referrals, and customer feedback about communication so later bookings match actual repair capability and service availability more reliably.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Trial a booking enquiry and check provider identity, appointment confirmation, diagnostic fee disclosure, authorization before extra work, and the handover information supplied when a repair cannot be completed. |
| What is included in the first trial? | List repair providers by verified service scope, coverage, booking process, and diagnostic boundaries, explaining who quotes, collects payment, authorizes parts, and handles complaints about completed repair work. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Show local repairers a transparent booking workflow and customers named provider profiles, sample quotations and verified service-scope information. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | Customer receives clear provider details and estimate process |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A booking service becomes misleading when it advertises a fixed repair price before diagnosis or assigns an unfamiliar provider whose competence has not been appropriately checked for the requested work.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional pilot: eight independent repair providers, two each for sewing machines, bicycles, phones and household appliances. Publish eight profiles and route up to twenty enquiries; technical work and quotations remain with appropriately qualified repairers.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | A claimed skill is not converted into an unsupported certification badge. |
| Output to inspect | A booking is counted only when the repairer confirms it, and completion is not assumed. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Wrong type of repair reaches a provider |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Compare requested model with approved scope.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
