KENYA · GUIDE 0024 · EDITION 4.2

Passion fruit growing in Kenya

Grow passion fruit for fresh-fruit or juice buyers.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE · ILLUSTRATIVE

Fictional passion-fruit contract: a juice kiosk orders 25 kg of one approved purple-fruited type, divided into five 5 kg net lots. During a paid sample it measures pulp recovered from 2 kg of fruit, using its normal extraction method. Supply whole sound fruit with harvest-block and grade identification, not bottled juice. Cosmetic skin acceptance must be agreed separately from decay; an unattractive but sound rind and a rotten fruit are different issues.

Who is the first customer?

Juice processors and produce traders.
