KENYA · GUIDE 0018 · EDITION 4.2
Pumpkin growing in Kenya
Grow pumpkins for storage-oriented household and kitchen sales.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE · ILLUSTRATIVE
Fictional pumpkin order: a family-meal caterer buys 12 whole cooking pumpkins for its booked weekend menu, with individual weights recorded and an agreed total of 36 kg net. It wants the approved flesh colour and cooking quality, not decorative types. Supply an individual-fruit register numbered P01–P12 with weight, rind condition, stem condition and buyer acceptance. No cut pumpkin portions or preserved puree are included; those would need separate handling and safety validation.
Who is the first customer?
Produce traders and kitchens using whole pumpkins or large portions.
