Salon basin retail in Kenya: Risks and Launch Plan

Set the conditions for a safe commercial test

  • Cracked ceramics
  • incorrect drainage or water connections

The basin fits the room dimensions but leaves the trap inaccessible, making routine maintenance disruptive and forcing expensive alteration after the salon opens.

A risk list is useful only when it changes a decision. For each risk, write the observable warning, who checks it and the response before the next commitment. Do not treat a reserve of money as permission to continue unsafe or unauthorized work.

Use a small, measurable pilot

Measure one proposed installation and verify supplier specifications before ordering stock.

The pilot scope is: Prepare a wash-station fit brief covering neck position, seated reach, plumbing access and cleaning clearance before choosing a basin and matching support.

GateEvidence before continuing
Scope agreedPrepare a wash-station fit brief covering neck position, seated reach, plumbing access and cleaning clearance before choosing a basin and matching support.
Output acceptableHave the salon operator and competent installer review the actual components together, confirming comfortable positioning and service access before accepting the supplier delivery.
Costs recordedPrice fragile freight, missing connector procurement, inspection time and failed delivery attempts separately from installation, retaining a clear allowance for damaged ceramics replacement.
Buyer response recordedRecord installed layout photographs, component omissions, installer questions and operator comfort feedback, then use these findings to improve the next pre-order measurement sheet.

Stage the launch around prerequisites

First confirm the buyer specification and activity requirements. Then compare suppliers, establish suitable facilities and prepare the operating record. Run the bounded trial when those prerequisites are in place. Review actual costs, quality failures and cash collected before increasing the commitment.

This sequence is not a promise that the complete business cycle fits into 30 days. Growing periods, qualifications, approvals, seasonal access and customer buying cycles can require longer. Revise the schedule when a prerequisite changes rather than skipping it to meet a launch date.

Choose continue, revise, pause or stop

Continue only when the scoped result is accepted and direct costs and payment timing are workable. Revise one part of the offer if the problem is identifiable and affordable to test again. Pause when required information, permission, skills or resources are missing. Stop the affected work when safety, consent or lawful authority is uncertain.

Keep a maximum test loss and unpaid-balance limit suited to your actual funds. A successful single delivery is useful evidence, but it does not establish year-round demand or justify committing every available resource.

Tie launch milestones to observable checks

Risk signalEvidence to inspectResponse to test
Water appears below the bowl during the installer demonstration.Have the plumber locate whether the leak is at a fitting, hose or ceramic body; dry surroundings help distinguish the source.Stop use. Installation joints go back to the plumber; a cracked or defective product goes to the supplier with arrival photographs.
Delivered hoses cannot reach the surveyed connection.Compare the supplied model drawing and parts list with the actual unit and recorded wall positions.Do not stretch or improvise connections. Obtain the correct unit or a separately approved plumber solution and agree any price change first.
The customer cannot sit comfortably at the bowl.Compare chair position and dimensions with the approved sample and whether the delivered chair is the ordered pre-reclined design.Resolve wrong-model delivery with the supplier. Discuss suitability before commissioning; cosmetic cushions must not conceal an incompatible station.

Outstanding go / hold conditions

  • No site survey or plumber approval has occurred.
  • Obtain exact model drawing, fresh stock confirmation and delivered tax-inclusive quote.
  • Manufacturer installation manual and warranty terms were not available on the category listing.

Assign an owner, evidence reference and review date to each unresolved condition. Do not give every milestone a fixed calendar date when it depends on a crop, production, approval or competence cycle. Run only a suitable limited trial, reconcile accepted output and actual cash, and record whether the evidence supports holding, revising, proceeding within the limit or stopping.
