Curtain retail shop in Kenya: Equipment and Supplies
Buy for the acceptance standard
The procurement decision starts with the result you must deliver: The delivered curtain quantity and hanging type fit the written order.
Ask the buyer to compare a sample hanging method with their rail and review the measured coverage, light appearance, and included fittings before purchase.
A tool or material is suitable only when it can support this specification at the pilot scale. Use the following shortlist as a starting point, not a compulsory shopping package:
- Swatch book
- measuring tape
- hanging samples
- order checklist
Write comparable requests for quotations
| Resource | Questions for the supplier |
|---|---|
| Swatch book | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
| measuring tape | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
| hanging samples | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
| order checklist | Confirm the precise variant, usable quantity, compatibility, delivered cost, lead time, invoice and remedy for a mismatch. |
Ask for the exact unit or pack size, rather than accepting a price without a quantity. Where equipment is involved, check maintenance needs, safe operation, available support and whether you can obtain replacement consumables. Inspect a sample or demonstration where practical. A photograph and a low asking price do not prove suitability or available stock.
Connect procurement to the operating sequence
- Clarify panel versus pair. Compare the physical sample with supplier dimensions and use instructions. Record any unsupported claim rather than repeating it in advertising.
- confirm width and drop. Write the selected dimensions or compatibility on the customer order. Ask for confirmation before ordering a non-returnable item.
- check headers. Check closures, fixings, set contents or moving parts as applicable. Keep a dated record of defects found before dispatch.
- verify colour under normal light. Record dispatch condition and packing, then explain the actual warranty and care information supplied with that specific product.
At each step, identify the input whose absence would stop delivery. Arrange that input before accepting a deadline. Compare buying with suitable hire or a competent subcontractor, while keeping the responsibility for inspection and customer handover explicit.
Inspect before release to use
Retain the quote and check the delivered specification, quantity, condition and identifying details. Keep unsuitable items separate while you resolve the discrepancy. Record supplier identity and payment reference privately; do not post customer or supplier personal data in a public planning sheet.
Include matching-panel sourcing, hooks not supplied by the manufacturer, transport creases, sample display, and returns caused by confusion between panel width and pair coverage.
Limit the first purchase to the agreed scope: Choose ready-made curtain pairs around the customer's window, rail, and privacy needs, distinguishing a single panel from the quantity required to cover the opening. Expand the resource list only when actual orders and measured capacity justify it.
Exact procurement specifications for this offer
| Item | Specification to quote | Acceptance evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Four jacquard panels | Candidate 140×270 cm unit; per-panel versus pair must be confirmed. | Resolve current 1900 listing unit, heading, shade and stock before committing. |
| Window measurement card | Two-window dimensions, pole/rail type and desired gather. | Check hanging reference and ring clearance; no installation assumed. |
| Panel-protection packs | Four packs preserving tags and shade identity. | Inspect hems/rings while maintaining actual return conditions. |
A usable quotation states the exact variant, comparison unit, minimum order, delivered quantity, tax, delivery charge, payment dates, expiry and exclusions. Obtain written clarification of substitutions; compare only equivalent scopes. Match the delivered item against the same check before releasing it to use.
Supplier evidence and limits
- Curtain 140×270 jacquard: KSh 1,900.00 per listed curtain unit; panel/pair unresolved; catalogue 140×270 cmjacquard unit. Orca Deco Kenya, recorded 2026-10-26. Do not use as observed per-panel cost before unit confirmation. Heading, colour lot, tax, delivery and stock unresolved.
Any listing above is an earlier observation, not a fresh quotation or confirmed stock. Reconfirm suitability and landed cost. The supplier comparison in the operating pack separates purchase quantity from usable requirement when a minimum order creates surplus.
