Curtain retail shop in Kenya: Operations and Quality Checks
Deliver the agreed result consistently
Choose ready-made curtain pairs around the customer's window, rail, and privacy needs, distinguishing a single panel from the quantity required to cover the opening.
The operating sequence for this offer is:
- Clarify panel versus pair. Compare the physical sample with supplier dimensions and use instructions. Record any unsupported claim rather than repeating it in advertising.
- confirm width and drop. Write the selected dimensions or compatibility on the customer order. Ask for confirmation before ordering a non-returnable item.
- check headers. Check closures, fixings, set contents or moving parts as applicable. Keep a dated record of defects found before dispatch.
- verify colour under normal light. Record dispatch condition and packing, then explain the actual warranty and care information supplied with that specific product.
Put acceptance into the job record
The delivered curtain quantity and hanging type fit the written order.
Ask the buyer to compare a sample hanging method with their rail and review the measured coverage, light appearance, and included fittings before purchase.
Inspect at the point where a correction is still possible, then again at handover. Record rejected or incomplete output separately from accepted output. A completed task is not automatically an accepted task, and an invoice does not establish that the customer received the right result.
Measure real capacity
Time preparation, the main operation, transport, cleaning, approvals and correction as applicable. The slowest stage determines how much you can promise. Where two orders need the same person, space or equipment at the same time, resolve the conflict before confirming both deadlines. An additional enquiry should not erase a commitment already made.
| Operating checkpoint | Evidence for this business |
|---|---|
| Before starting | Choose ready-made curtain pairs around the customer's window, rail, and privacy needs, distinguishing a single panel from the quantity required to cover the opening. |
| During delivery | confirm width and drop. Write the selected dimensions or compatibility on the customer order. Ask for confirmation before ordering a non-returnable item. |
| At acceptance | Ask the buyer to compare a sample hanging method with their rail and review the measured coverage, light appearance, and included fittings before purchase. |
| At the pilot review | Record window and rail measurements, panel count, hanging type, buyer-approved coverage, colour observations in the room, and the cause of any exchange request. |
Keep a correction and escalation rule
When inputs, access, specifications or customer instructions change, pause the affected work and confirm the effect on time and cost. Do not quietly lower the acceptance standard to avoid a delayed delivery. Keep rework caused by your error distinct from a customer-requested change of scope and agree the remedy clearly.
A curtain purchase disappoints when customers measure only glass width and discover the chosen pair does not create the fullness or privacy they expected.
Retain the minimum records needed to investigate a complaint without disclosing unrelated personal information. Use measured delivery and actual acceptance as the basis for expanding capacity, rather than the maximum theoretical output of a tool or production line.
Operating control points for this exact offer
| Sequence | Work method | Release checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Record rail/pole span, hanging point to desired hem, pole diameter and available side clearance. Obtain the customer’s desired gather instead of calling a flat 280 cm pair a 280 cm coverage guarantee. | Measurements and fullness expectation are written. |
| 2 | Ask the supplier whether 140×270 cm and 1900 price apply per panel or pair, and verify ring count/internal diameter. Do not order four assumed panels from a vague catalogue line. | Unit, heading and quantity are unambiguous. |
| 3 | Reserve all four panels from the same confirmed colour/lot where possible. Show an actual swatch or current stock photograph; room lighting does not justify silently mixing shades. | Both windows have buyer-approved matching panels. |
| 4 | Check each panel’s measured drop, ring attachment, hems and pattern direction before handover. Do not cut or wash a disputed item before documenting supplier-return eligibility. | Four sound panels match the approved reference. |
| 5 | Provide the actual panel label and installation exclusions. An IKEA care example shows why instructions differ by model; it is not permission to wash the Orca item that way. | Customer understands actual care and measured fit. |
Do not substitute a tick for an observation: record the count, measurement, approved sample or evidence reference used at each checkpoint. Mark unresolved work as held and identify who can approve the recheck.
Diagnose a failure before repeating it
| Observed symptom to investigate | Check the cause | Proposed response |
|---|---|---|
| Curtain drop too short | Measure actual hanging point to desired hem and compare270cm panel length plus heading consumption; distinguish rail height from window height. | Select suitable supported length before alteration or obtain revised plan; do not promise hooks recover a substantial measured shortage. |
| Shade differs across pair | Compare physical panel lots under same light against approved sample. | Separate mismatched pairs and source matching stock or obtain explicit revised approval before installation. |
| Heading incompatible | Compare actual rod/track and supplied heading type/clearance with supplier instructions. | Change model or agree competent separately scoped alteration; reapprove finished drop and fit instead of forcing hooks into unsupported fabric. |
These are diagnostic prompts, not proof of the cause in a real incident. Separate suspect output, record any correction and repeat the relevant acceptance check. Link rejected units, rework time, replacement materials, customer credits and collection delays to the actual job result.
