Whiteboard supply in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand
The buyer and the buying decision
schools and meeting rooms The offer to test is: Whiteboards supplied with stated surface and mounting method
Specify whiteboards by writing area, mounting approach, condition and intended use, clarifying included accessories, installation and supported compatibility claims before the buyer accepts the supply quote.
Separate interest from an accepted order
Install or deliver one sample within agreed competence
The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.
Collect evidence specific to this offer
Keep product identity, surface-test observations, mounting scope, delivery condition and everyday-use feedback so repeat purchasing preserves the demonstrated specification rather than choosing a visually similar board.
| Question to resolve | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| What exactly will the buyer accept? | Test the actual surface with approved markers and care instructions, checking erasure, frame integrity, mounting points and packaging before dispatch or competent installation where required. |
| What is included in the first trial? | Specify whiteboards by writing area, mounting approach, condition and intended use, clarifying included accessories, installation and supported compatibility claims before the buyer accepts the supply quote. |
| How will a prospect see the offer? | Demonstrate a real sample to schools or meeting venues, showing write-and-erase results, mounting details and an exact dimensional specification. |
| What must happen before repeating the trial? | Flat usable surface and secure fitting if included |
Decide whether to continue
Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. The board arrives intact but erases poorly or the buyer expected installation, creating dissatisfaction because surface demonstration and the supply-only scope were never explicitly agreed.
If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.
Turn the example into a buyer test
Fictional office order: supply three new 1,200 × 900 mm dry-erase whiteboards, each with four compatible markers and one eraser. Buyer approves magnetic capability only if the exact selected product supports it. Deliver in original protection with care instructions; mounting is a separate site-assessed job. Do not substitute a painted display panel or claim an unknown wall/fixing will carry the board.
| Buyer discussion | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Specification to confirm | A wall board and a wheeled stand are different products and price units. |
| Output to inspect | The client’s competent installer selects fixings for the actual wall. |
| Failure that can defeat acceptance | Marker ghosts |
Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.
What a failed test should change
Check board/marker identity and maker cleaning instructions.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
