Kunde Leaves Farm Records: Picking, Sales and Crop Outcome

Use one block reference for both crop uses

A useful kunde worksheet links the planting source and field objective to each leaf picking, buyer order and later field observation. Separate notebooks for “leaf business” and “grain business” can conceal that both refer to the same plants. Use one block identifier and make the planned crop objective explicit.

Record the sequence

FieldWhat to enter
PlantingCrop, source or lot, block, date and intended leaf/grain objective
PickingDate, block, labour time and gross leaves picked
SortingUnwanted stalks, rejected material and accepted leaf quantity
Buyer orderApproved sample, unit, quantity and receiving window
HandoverDelivered and accepted quantities, returns and reason
PaymentUnit price, amount collected, balance and due date
Later field reviewActual remaining crop outcome, season and relevant observations

Use consistent units. A kilogram of gross picked material differs from a kilogram accepted after stalks are removed. Compare picking, sorting and delivery costs with accepted paid output, and record a return journey where the agreement requires one.

Do not manufacture a comparison

The record may support a later comparison of crop strategies, but one trial does not automatically quantify the effect of leaf picking on grain. If a value has not been observed or reliably supported, label it unknown. Record the season, field plan and relevant conditions so that a future comparison can be assessed on a consistent basis.

Separate one-time tools and deposits from recurring inputs and cash needed before customers pay. An invoice does not mean the money has been collected. Record refunds, outstanding balances and customer advances according to the actual arrangement.

Follow sources within their stated scope

The World Vegetable Center identifies cowpea leaves in its Kenya manual; KEPHIS, WRA and KRA provide seed, water and invoicing enquiry routes. None verifies your buyer’s demand, a particular planting lot, plot outcome or profit. Seek competent local advice for the chosen crop and field.

Use appropriate statutory documents where required and store customer and transaction details privately. At the end of the review, record whether to continue the order, revise stalk sorting, adjust the crop plan, collect an overdue balance or defer expansion—and why.
