Website content migration in Kenya: Customers and Market Demand

The buyer and the buying decision

Businesses changing website platforms or hosts. The offer to test is: Move authorized website content with a URL mapping and rollback plan.

Migrate approved pages and assets using a source-to-destination inventory, preserving essential links, document access, content ownership, and agreed handling of obsolete material.

Separate interest from an accepted order

Migrate a small representative page set into staging.

The purpose of this test is to establish whether the buyer accepts the specified result, delivery arrangement and payment terms. An encouraging interview does not establish repeat demand. Ask what the buyer currently uses, what would make them change supplier and who has authority to approve the first order. Record a refusal as carefully as an enquiry so that unsuccessful offers do not disappear from the evidence.

Collect evidence specific to this offer

Keep source mappings, asset permissions, excluded pages, broken-link findings, destination checks, approval records, and remaining items requiring a content-owner decision before release.

Question to resolveEvidence to retain
What exactly will the buyer accept?Ask the owner to compare priority journeys before and after migration, checking images, downloads, internal links, forms, and content that should remain unpublished.
What is included in the first trial?Migrate approved pages and assets using a source-to-destination inventory, preserving essential links, document access, content ownership, and agreed handling of obsolete material.
How will a prospect see the offer?Offer a documented sample migration before quoting the complete move.
What must happen before repeating the trial?Pages and internal links map correctly and missing assets are reported.

Decide whether to continue

Review the specification with the buyer before committing to tools or stock. A trial is commercially useful only if actual costs, rejected work, time spent and cash collected can be reconciled. A migration looks complete while losing customer value when old links lead nowhere or downloadable forms disappear despite the main navigation appearing correct.

If a buyer changes the required output, record a new scope and re-cost the test. Do not count a request for a different product as proof of demand for the original one. Keep personal contact details in your private records and use customer statements publicly only with permission.

Turn the example into a buyer test

Fictional migration MIG-98 moves ten public pages and twenty authorised images between two owner-controlled WordPress sites. Output is old→new URL map, content/image inventory, staged destination and redirect/test log. Customer accounts, orders, mailbox moves and redesign are excluded. A page disappearing from navigation is not permission to delete its original.

Buyer discussionEvidence to retain
Specification to confirmCapture embedded links and image rights, not only visible paragraphs.
Output to inspectKeep old-site recovery access until agreed acceptance; owner can edit new pages.
Failure that can defeat acceptanceImages missing

Ask the buyer to describe one acceptable and one unacceptable result. Record the decision maker, price basis, quantity, handover point and payment date privately. A sample request, an encouraging conversation and an accepted order are different evidence. Keep the first commitment within your demonstrated capacity; no customer interview or successful trial is asserted here.

What a failed test should change

Compare media paths/rights and import log.. If the offer cannot meet that check, revise the specification or process before promising a repeat. Keep rejected offers and reasons in the same register as positive replies so that your record does not exaggerate demand.
